Application Procedures of Study in Asia Scholarship

It is a special full scholarship scheme established by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) aiming to stimulate the mobility of Asian students and scholars in Asian area, strengthen mutual understanding among the people in Asian countries, develop education cooperation and exchange, and promote Asian education quality. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to handle the enrollment of international students and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program.

20 full scholarships are available for the academic year 2009/2010.

Categories of Applicants and Duration of Scholarship

1. This scheme sponsors general scholars and senior scholars with the duration of one academic year.

2. The courses will be taught either in English or in Chinese. Candidates who apply for courses instructed in Chinese are required to take one-year remedial Chinese language course prior to the study of academic programs if their Chinese language level is not qualified. If students take one-year Chinese language course, the duration of the scholarship will be extended for one year.

Application

Applicants shall apply to the Chinese Embassies in their home countries between January and April every year.

Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. The educational background and age limit:

Applicants for general scholars must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of45.

Applicants for senior scholars must have master degree or above or hold academic title of associate professor or higher and be under the age of 50.
