Chengde Mountain Resort
Situated in the north of the city center of Chengde, the Mountain Resort used to be the venue where the emperors of the Qing Dynasty escaped summer heat and handled stated affairs. First constructed in 1703, the Chengde Mountain Resort cover an area of 5.64 million sq m. It is the largest imperial garden and a famous scenic and historic interest zone in China. As compared with the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Mountain Resort is simple and elegant with rustic charm, showing the natural beauty of lakes and hills and absorbing the scenery of South and North China. The Chengde Mountain Resort contains 120-some buildings, terraces, halls, pavilions, kiosks, studios and towers, and is well known for the 72 tourist attractions with the inscriptions by emperors Kangxi and Qianlong, which add radiance and beauty to the natural landscapes. With gardens contained in gardens, and scenic views entailed in scenic view, the Mountain Resort is just like a three-dimensional Chinese painting.
Puning Temple
Commonly known as Great Buddeha Temple,the OuningTemple is well known because it contains the largest wooden Buddhist statue in the world.First constructed in1755,the 20th year of the Qianlong reign,the Puning Temple cobers an area of 33000sqm.With a well-conceibed layout,the Puning Temple is dibided into the front and rear parts with the Grand Hall as the boundary.The front part is composed of seben halls in a Buddehist temple,and the rear prat is a mandala in the style of Tibetan monastery.The statue of Goddess of Mercy with 1,000 eyes and 1,000 arms is enshrined in the Dacheng Pabilion,the main building in the Ouning Temple.
