Daming Lake
Situated in the north of the old city of Jinan,Daming Lake is one of the three major tourist attractions in Jinan,known as the”Pearl of Jinan(City of Springs)”.The scenery by Daming Lake is the most beautiful when summer is changing into autumn,with green weeping willows along the banks,luxurious reeds and cattails on the lake,gulls floating on water and fish swimming freely in water.Tourists will find the fascinating mountains and waters pleasing to both the eye and the mind.Many famous men of letters of the past ages,such as Li Bai,Du Fu,Zeng Gong and Su Shi,once visited Daming Lake and left some poems and articles.The main tourist attractions around Daming Lake are Lixia Pavilion,Lord Tie Shrine,North Pole Pavilion,Xiayuan Garden,Spring Gathering Temple and Hundred Flower Isle.
Spurting Spring
On the western side of the Spurting Spring Park in Inanity is also called Rushing Spring, and enjoys a reputation of being the “No.1 spring on earth”. The Spurting Spring Group, which consists of 37 springs in Jinan. The spring spurts out water with a thundering sound from three holes in the underground rocks, like a seething cauldron. The square pool is built with stones, and contains numerous small springs; and water keeps bubbling up from the bottom and floating on the pond, with waterweeds drifting in water and goldfish swimming back and forth. In winter, the pond is enveloped by hydrosphere, presenting a fascinating foggy scene. The towers and pavilions nearby and the pond set each other off and form a pleasing contrast.
Mount Tai
Mount Tai,called Mount Dai in ancient times,is also known as Daizong.Situated in the center of Shandong Province,Mount Tai is one of China’s five sacred peaks and the epitome of the ancient history and culture of the Chinese nation.In ancient China,Mount Tai was regarded as Holy Mountain or Sacred Mountain,and all the Chinese people ranging from the emperor, generals, official to ordinary people often came to pay homage to it.Now Mount Tai has 58 temples, 128archaeological sites and over2,500 stone inscriptions, ranking first in China in terms of quantity and scale;hence the name the”Huge Open Museum.”Mount Tai has splendid natural scenic spots,156 peaks,138 mountain ranges,130 stream nalleys,72springs,64pools and waterfalls and over 10,000 ancient trees, presenting the”magnificent,queer precipitous, exquisite, beautiful, secluded and spacious scenic spots.” In 1987,Mount Tai was named the world cultural and natural heritage by the UNESCO.
