White Horse Temple

Situated in the eastern suburbs of Luoyang City,Henan Province,it is the first Buddhist temple builtin the year of 68 A.D.by the Chinese government after Buddhism was introduced to China’hence it was regarded as the cradleland of Buddhism in China.The White Horse Temple faces south,and the main architectural structures in the temple include the Heavenly King Hall.Giant Buddha Hall.Grand Hall and Jieyin Hall.showing an orderly layout.The Cool Terrace in the temple is a tall platform built with black vricks,43 m long,33 m wide and six m high.Known as the “Courtyard in the Air.”this terrace shows the distinctive features of the ancient Oriental architecture.The Qiyun Pagoda is a Sakyamuni stupa,which holds the relics or ashes of Buddha.This square pagoda has multi eaves and 13 stories and is 35 m high,with an exquisite and is 35 m high,with an exquisite shape.It is the oldest architecture in Luoyang.The White Horse Temple has an elegant and quiet environment,with lushly growing ancient cypress trees and sweet-scented osmanthwu trees.

Cemetery of Guan Yu

Situated in Guanlin Town,eight km south of the city proper of Luoyang,the cemetery of Guan Yu is where the head of Guan Yu,a famous general of Shu State during the Three Kingdoms period(220-280),was buried.First constructed in 1596,the 24th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty,the cemetery consists of a palace-type architectural complex,and covers an area of 100mu(one mu=1/15hectare).It boasts many ancient cypress trees,gorgeous halls and a great number of tombstones,showing an imposing aer.All the main architectural structures in the Cemetery of Guan Yu arearranged along the central axial line in proper order:Dance Tower,the front gate,the ceremonial gate,the paved path leading to the bomb,the hall for paying respects to the deceased,Grand Hall,Second Hall.Third Hall.the stone workshop,the plane of the tome is an irregular octagon and the enclosing wall is built with bricks.The tomb is 10 m high,and covers an area of 250sqm.Each architectural structure in the cemetery displays its unique style.The cemetery contains various kinds of artistic contents to commemorate Guan Yu,such as basso-reliefs,wood carvings,horizontal inscribed boards,sculptures and calligraphic works.
