In July 2008, the “Fujian Tulou”of China, tamped-earth tower, was officially included in the “World Heritage List” at the 32nd Session of World Heritage Conference held in Quebec, Canada. Coming into being in Song-Yuan period, the Tulou of Fujian became mature in the period of late Ming as well as Qing Dynasty and Republic of China.

The oldest and youngest Tulou among those included in the world heritages are both in the Chuxi Tulou group, with the 66m-diameter Jiqing Tulou being at an “advanced age” of 600 years and the 31m-diameter Shanqing Tulou having a history of only 30 years.
