In the southwest of Shandong Province, there is a county-level city one fifth of whose population has the same surname “Kong”. It is She who is the well-known “the Holy Oriental Town” with a history of more than 5000 years——Qufu. “Li and Yue of thousands of years date back to Dong Lu, and scholars of millions of years shall worship Confucius”, the reason why Qufu enjoys a worldwide fame is that it has a close relationship with the name of Confucius. Confucius is considered as one of the greatest philosophers and the founder of Confucian School of China. In the long history of more than 2000 years, Confucian culture becomes Chinese orthodox culture gradually and has a great influence on the countries of East Asia and Southeast Asia. It becomes the foundation of the whole oriental culture.

The Kong Family Mansion, the Temple of Confucius and the Cemetery of Confucius of Qufu are called “Three Kongs”, which is the representation of commemorating Confucius and valuing Confucianism highly in all different periods and that is famous for its profound cultural deposit, very long history, grand scale, abundant relics and treasures and significant scientific and artistic value. It has been listed as world cultural heritage site by the UNESCO for its prominent position in Chinese history and oriental culture of the world. And it was inscribed on the World Heritage List in December, 1994. The city is honored by the people as one of the three holy cities. On May 8, 2007, the old town of Ming Dynasty (Three Kongs) tourist area of Qufu, Jining is formally approved as National AAAAA Tourist Area by National Tourism Administration.
