Mount Song is located in the west of Henan Province and the northwest part of Dengfeng City, Henan Province. It is the central mountain of the Five Sacred Mountains of China. Mount Song was approved to list in the first group of national-level scenic spot and tourist resort by the state council in the name of Mountain Song Tourist Area of Henan in 1982. And then, it was voted as the “World Geological Park” by the department of geoscience of UNESCO on February 13, 2004. On May 8, 2007, the Mountain Song Shaolin Scenic Area of Dengfeng City has been approved as a national 5A tourist area by National Tourism Administration.
