Lijiang River Scenic Area is the world's largest and most beautiful karst mountains and waters landscape scenic resort and it has attracted so many men of letters for thousands of years. Image of River Li appears on the 20 yuan note.

Lijiang is a pearl of the beautiful rivers and mountains, the essence of the scenery of Guilin as well as the soul of the scenery of Guilin. Lijiang is located in the eastern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, South China, belonging to the Pearl River water system. Lijiang originates from the Maoer Mountain of Yuechengling, South of Guangxi, where is flourishing with forests, fresh air and good ecological environment. The mainstream of the upstream of the Lijiang is called Liudong River, reaching Simen of Xing’an county on the south, join Huangbo River on the east, and Chuanjiang on the west, converging to be called Rongjiang; flowing through Rongjiang County with the water of Lingqu, across Lingchuan, Guiling and Yangshuo, then to Pingle and join into Xijiang, with the total length of 437 km. The watercourse from Guilin to Yangshuo with the length of 83km is called Lijiang.
