Mount Qingcheng is located at the southwest of Dujiangyan city of Sichuan Province, at the edge of northwestern Chengdu Plain and lies in the scenic area of Qingcheng Mountain – Dujiangyan. It is 68 kilometers east from Chengdu and 16 kilometers away from the urban area of Dujiangyan City, called Mount Zhangren in the past. It is a branch of Mount Qionglai. Mount Qingcheng is back to Xue-Ling Minshan and faces the Western Sichuan Plain. The main peak Laoxiaoding is 1,260 meters (in 2007) above sea level.
Hills full of green trees are evergreen in the four seasons; the peaks make a circle just like Town Wall, thus get the name of Mount Qingcheng. Thousands of winding steps streching to the deep distance of the mountain, reputated as “Mount Qingcheng is the most serene seclusion under heaven”, sharing the fame with “the sharp precipice of Jianmen Pass”, “the elegance of Mount Emei” and “the grandeur of Kuimen”. Mount Qingcheng is back to Minshan and faces the Western Sichuan Plain with the scenic area of 200 square kilometers. According to the records of the ancients, the famous scenery of Qingcheng are numerous, namely “36 peaks ", “8 big caves and 72 small caves," as well as "180 historic sites”.
