PHNOM PENH, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported garment and footwear products worth 4.24 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, a 25 percent rise from 3.4 billion U.S. dollars in a year earlier, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Commerce on Friday.
The United States and European countries are the main buyers.
The figure showed that the export to the United States was 2.05 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, up 11 percent from 1.84 billion U.S. dollars a year earlier, and the export to European countries was 1. 3 billion U.S. dollars, up 42 percent from 914 million U.S. dollars in the previous year.
In addition, the exports to Canada, Japan, South Korea, and China earned 890 million U.S. dollars, marking a year-on-year increase of 38 percent.
Garment and footwear industry represented 85 percent of the country's total exports of 4.97 billion U.S. dollars last year.
