Based on the important agreement made by Mr. MA Mingqiang, Seretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), and Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia earlier this year, ACC went to Cambodia together with China Central Television (CCTV) on April 22 to shoot its abundant tourism attractions for one week to further promote Cambodia in China as a travel destination.
CCTV interviewed Dr. Thong Khon who expressed his sincere welcome and gratitude to ACC for getting CCTV to shoot its tourism attractions. Dr. Thong said, with world-class tourism attractions represented by Angkor, the most well-known archaeological site in Cambodia, and great beaches, Cambodia boasts well-rounded tourism resources and is especially suitable for Chinese holiday makers. China is Cambodia's biggest inbound travel market with remarkable increase over the past years, but Cambodia still lacks better marketing and promotion due to various reasons. To shoot in Cambodia is very helpful to improve the image for marketing purpose, which is greatly appreciated by Cambodia Tourism Ministry. The Ministry hopes to further raise the awareness of Cambodia as a travel destination among Chinese travelers by exposing its sights and sounds on CCTV, and it would spare no efforts to facilitate the shooting.
Featuring interviews on sustainable development, conservation and management of human historical and cultural heritage, marketing strategy for Chinese market of boutique hotels in Cambodia, the CCTV crew covered the Angkor archaeological sites, Sihanouk Ville, and Phnom Penh highlighting all aspects of tourism resources in Cambodia for 7 consecutive days.
The footage shot in Cambodia is being created and will be aired on CCTV soon. The ASEAN-China Centre will collaborate with media to cover other ASEAN Member States in future.
