ASEAN-China Centre's Secretary-General MA Mingqiang met with Tour Operators

To get a better understanding of China's outbound travel market to ASEAN Member States and strengthen the networking with travel industry, Mr. MA Mingqiang, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre, met with major tour operators selling Southeast Asia on June 6 in Beijing. Mr. MA briefed the industry insiders on what ASEAN-China Center has done in the tourism field. Mr. MA said, since its launch, the ASEAN-China Center (ACC) began to promote the tourist attractions of ASEAN Member States by taking advantage of resources of governments and private sectors. ACC has hosted workshops, seminars and exhibitions in the hopes to raise the awareness of of ASEAN Member States in China. ACC is determined to work together with tour operators to promote southeast Asia in order to send more Chinese travellers to southeast Asia. The tour operators said, the outbound travel from China to ASEAN Member States is going well, and very attractive to Chinese travellers, as these countries are abundant with tourism resources, easy to access, and with reasonable price. With more countries becoming travel destinations for Chinese citizens, ASEAN Member States is facing severe competitions. The tour operators expressed their gratitude to ACC for its efforts in promoting southeast Asia and are committed to work together even more closely with ACC to promote ASEAN Member States as travel destinations in China. Both parties also discussed possible ways of joint marketing activities in the future.
