Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang Attends the Indonesian Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion 2012

On July 24, 2012, Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang attended the Indonesian Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion 2012 in Chengdu which was hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in China and co-organized by the ASEAN-China Center (ACC) and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal Government. Indonesian Ambassador to China H.E. Imron Cotan, Indonesian Vice Foreign Minister Wahid Supriyadi and Deputy Mayor Fu Yonglin of Chengdu Municipality attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Three hundred officials and business representatives from Indonesia and Chengdu joined the promotion activities.

Ambassador Imron introduced Indonesia's economic development and particularly the development of China-Indonesia business relations. He hoped that by hosting Indonesian trade, investment and tourism promotion activities in different provinces of China, Indonesia will get better known in China and attract Chinese enterprises to make investment and set up businesses in Indonesia. 

Secretary Ma Mingqiang introduced to the participating Chinese businesses ASEAN-China relations, China-Indonesia relations and especially Indonesia's investment environment. He hoped that Chinese businesses could make ASEAN countries the major destinations of their "go global" strategy. He said that as the only international intergovernmental organization between China and ASEAN, the ACC is willing to facilitate Chinese businesses' efforts to tap into the ASEAN market.

Officials from the Indonesian Ocean and Fishery Ministry and Industry Ministry and representatives from the investment promotion agencies of Indonesia's South Sumatra, East Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, and West Nusa Tenggara introduced to Chinese businesses the investment projects in infrastructure, fishery, oil and gas, mining, plantation and agriculture in Indonesia respectively.
