On 10 July 2012, Access to ASEAN—Dynamic Jiangsu, Remarkable Indonesia—co-hosted by ASEAN-China Centre, Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Jiangsu Sub-Counsil of CCPIT and Zhenjiang Municipal Government, was held in Biyuyuan Conference Centre. ACC Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang, Indonesian Ambassador Imron Cotan, Vice Chairwoman Qiu Xiaoping of CCPIT Jiangsu Sub-council and Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Weiqing of Zhenjiang Government attended the symposium and delivered remarks.
In his speech, Secretary-General Ma briefed on the ASEAN-China relations and ACC’s roles and tasks. He pointed out that with the various efficient cooperation mechanisms between ASEAN and China, the stable political relations between the two sides, the systematical assurance of CAFTA, the rich resources and huge market of ASEAN, the China’s enterprises owned many advantages in time, geography and human resource to enter into ASEAN. Indonesia is the country with biggest potential of development in ASEAN, while Zhenjiang is an important city in the Changjiang Delta for its port, industry and trade. The goal of Access to ASEAN is to introduce the two dynamic economies to each other. ACC is ready to provide support both in information and activities for Zhenjiang’s enterprises access to ASEAN.
In the thematic session, Mr. Marolop Nainggolan, trade counsellor of Indonesian Embassy, Mr. Sentot Mujiono, GM Garuda Indonesia in Shanghai, Mr. Liu Ping, executive director of Original Rules Office of General Administration of Customs, Mr. Chang Hui, director of International Finance Department of China Development Bank and Mr. Wang Yuzhu, dean of Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences delivered theme speeches in their professional fields respectively. Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang and Ambassador Imron also answered questions raised by entrepreneurs and journalists.
About 200 entrepreneurs from Zhenjiang and other cities of Jiangsu attended the Symposium.
