2012 Malaysian Higher Education Forum (Beijing) Convened at ACC

On November 7 2012, Malaysian Higher Education Forum (Beijing), hosted by the Malaysian Embassy in China, was convened at the ASEAN Hall of the ASEAN-China Centre. Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang was invited to inaugurate the opening ceremony of the forum.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Ma introduced to the audience the background of establishing the ACC and its major education activities, emphasizing ACC's unique role in the 5th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. Mr. Ma also mentioned ACC's close partnership with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO).

According to Mr. Lim Yourang, Director of Education Malaysia, Beijing, there are 15 Malaysian and 64 Chinese higher education institutions (HEIs) participating the forum. The one-day event featured presentations by Malaysian HEIs in the morning and one-on-one in-depth discussions between HEIs from Malaysia and China in the afternoon, with cooperation areas such as student and scholor exchange, foundation courses, joint R&D projects and collaboratively offered programs.
