ASEAN Representatives Attended 2012 China Rice Expo

From 8 to 10 of December 2012, the 2012 Wuhu International Rice Fair and the Second China International Rice Expo (Nanling Branch) was held in Nanling County of Wuhu, Anhui Province. This Expo was hosted by Anhui Grain Bureau, Wuhu Municipal Government, Professional Market Committee of China General Chamber of Commerce and Nanling County Government and organized by Wuhu China Rice Market.

As the special supporting organiaztion, ASEAN-China Centre attended the Expo and introduced several companies from ASEAN countries to participate. On behalf ACC, Director Litao of General Affairs and Coordination delivered speech in the opening ceremony and the officials from the Embassies of Cambodia, the Philippines and Thailand attended the opening ceremony and related activities of expo. Mr. Xu Xiaoming, head of Nanling County held meeting with the distinguished guests.

Wuhu has been boasting of "home of fish and rice" since ancient times and Nanling is famous for its rice output. The Expo owned over 1,000 booths, which exhibited and sold various types of rice, rice product and processing equipment. In order to expand the cooperation with ASEAN countries, the Expo set up ASEAN exhibition area, introducing and recommending ASEAN rice industry and products.

On the sidelines of the Expo, the officials of ACC and ASEAN Embassies held meeting with the representatives of Nanling County and Wuhu China Rice Market and also attended the signing ceremony of the Expo and the presentation of electronic commercial platform of Wuhu China Rice Market. They felt very impressed at the development of Nanling and Wuhu China Rice Market. 

In his remarks, Director Litao said that ACC made full use of its advantage to play the role of one-stop information and activity centre. The Expo built a new platform for the commercial cooperation between ASEAN and China. He hoped the guests to know more about the roles and obligations and make close friends with ACC. He also encouraged the enterprises to better understand and use the preferential policies of CAFTA to create a win-win future.
