The Symposium on ASEAN-China International Economic and Trade Arbitration was co-hosted by the ASEAN-China Center (ACC) and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) in Beijing on 10 April 2013.
CIETAC Secretary-General Yu Jianlong gave a briefing on the organization and functions of the CIETAC as an effective channel for addressing international trade disputes, which, since its inception in 1956, has been committed to independent and impartial solutions to economic and trade disputes involving Chinese and foreign businesses with its arbitration rulings recognized and enforced in over 140 countries.
CIETAC Arbitrator and Director Wang Jie made a case-by-case presentation on the advantages, features, and procedures of arbitration and answered questions from ASEAN participants on the duration of the proceedings, impartiality of the arbitration, online transaction disputes, etc.
Diplomats from the Embassies of Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam in Beijing attended the symposium.
