The Indonesia-China Partnership Workshop on Vocational Education Cooperation was co-hosted by the ACC and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia on 28 May 2013 at the ACC, bringing together over 80 participants from 6 Indonesian polytechnic, vocational colleges, high schools and 2 Cambodian polytechnic colleges, which were organized by SEAMOLEC, and more than 40 Chinese vocational and technical institutions invited by the ACC. Indonesian Ambassador Mr. Imron Cotan and ACC Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang attended and addressed the opening ceremony, applauding the role of vocational education cooperation in driving the cooperation in business and investment.
Participants from China and Indonesia gave an overview on their vocational education systems, had one-on-one talks on academic cooperation including exchanges of faculty and students, and signed about 20 MOUs on cooperation intentions.
This workshop was one of the events to promote China-ASEAN vocational education exchanges and cooperation. In March this year, the ACC, the Indonesian Embassy and SEAMOLEC organized the 1st group of Chinese Vocational Colleges ASEAN Tour, through which delegates from 12 Chinese vocational colleges visited Indonesia. They had talks on cooperation with representatives of 52 local polytechnic colleges, vocational colleges, community colleges and vocational high schools and signed a number of agreements on cooperation intentions. These two events responded to a huge demand on both sides for exchanges and cooperation among their vocational institutions. The ACC will continue to organize such events to provide a platform for cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and ASEAN vocational institutions.
