PHNOM PENH, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's General Department of Taxation unveiled on Friday that the country collected 395 million U.S. dollars of tax in the first five months of this year, up 24 percent year on year.
The revenues had been taken from tax on profit, withholding tax, tax on salary, value added tax, special tax on certain merchandises and services, turnover tax, vehicle tax, patent tax and property tax.
In May alone, the department collected 73 million U.S. dollars, up 4 percent compared with a year earlier.
Kong Vibol, director general of the General Department of Taxation, attributed the growth in tax revenues to increasing business activities and strict law enforcement.
The country's tax revenues reached 740 million U.S. dollars last year, up 25 percent from the previous year.
