PHNOM PENH, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia reported a 29 percent rise in dry rubber exports in the first five months of 2013, but revenues from the exports rose only 4 percent due to price decline in international markets.

During the January-May period this year, the country exported 24,260 tons of dry rubber, up 29 percent from 18,800 tons over the same period last year, showed the figures of the Commerce Ministry released on Thursday.

Export revenues valued at 61.4 million U.S. dollars during the first five months of this year, up 4 percent compared with the same period last year, the figures said.

The best quality rubber latex goes for 2,583.5 dollars a ton on Thursday, down 16 percent compared with 3,083 dollars a ton at this time last year, according to the International Rubber Price.

Cambodia's dry rubber has been exported to Malaysia, Vietnam, and China.

Last year, the country exported 54,530 tons of dry rubber, earning 158 million dollars.

Currently, the country has about 300,000 hectares of rubber trees, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. Some 55,000 hectares are mature enough to yield.
