On 21 November 2013, ASEAN-China Green Economy and Sustainable Development Cooperation Forum, co-hosted by ASEAN-China Centre and International Cooperation Centre of National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC) of China, was held in Beijing.
Representatives from Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Viet Nam, Commercial Counselors of ASEAN Embassies in Beijing and officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NDRC, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Environmental Protection and National Energy Administration of China made remarks at the forum. Around 200 representatives from relevant enterprises, institutions and associations attended the forum.
This forum, with the theme of ASEAN-China green economy and sustainable development, aims to promote ASEAN-China cooperation in new energy and cycling economy as well as promote sustainable development in ASEAN and China. The representatives held efficient discussions on such topics as ASEAN-China cycling economic system, sustainable development policy, regional cooperation in sustainable development, management of environmental crisis and building of green economy system. At the sidelines of the forum, ASEAN representatives also visited the green-energy products exhibition and held talks with Chinese entrepreneurs on cooperation in solar, wind and geothermal energy.
Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism of ACC, attended the forum and chaired the first session discussion, in which officials of NDRC, MOC, MOF and MOEP exchanged views on cycling economy and sustainable development policy in ASEAN and China and held Q&A interaction with the entrepreneurs.
Afterwards, ASEAN representatives paid a study tour to Tianjin Ziya Cycling Economy and Industry Zone. They visited the Exhibition Hall of the Zone, TCL Aobo Environmental Protection Company and Huaxinda Investment Company, inspected technological process of cycling and operation of the companies, and held talks with officials of the companies.
ASEAN representatives highly commended the forum and the visit, and expected to strengthen strategic cooperation with the Chinese side on green economy and new energy.
