From 1 to 5 December 2013, ASEAN-China Centre, in collaboration with Air China, invited 20 representatives from Chinese tour operators and media agencies to visit Siem Reap, Cambodia.
During their stay, the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia briefed the delegation on the latest development of Cambodian tourism industry and Chinese outbound travel market to Cambodia. Local Travel Agency Association and Hotel Association networked with the delegation. The delegation visited major scenic spots such as Angkor Wat and some newly developed tourist attractions in Siem Reap as well.
Taking advantage of the newly inaugurated direct flight between Beijing and Siem Reap by Air China, this visit aims to maximize media exposure of the direct flight, set up a cooperation platform between Chinese tour operators and Cambodian tourism suppliers, as well as create more diversified tourism products for Chinese tourists.
The outbound travel from China to Cambodia witnesses a rapid growth in recent years. Statistics show that visits by mainland Chinese travelers to Cambodia as the first stop reached 1.85 million in 2012, an increase of 52% over 2011.
