On 18 December 2013, an ASEAN Film Week, co-organized by ASEAN-China Center (ACC) and Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), supported by ASEAN Embassies in Beijing, was successfully opened in Beijing.
ACC Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang, Madam Yang Xiuping, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, ASEAN Ambassadors in Beijing, Committee of Permanent Representatives of ASEAN from Jakarta, representatives from ASEAN, Mr. Liu Baoli, Deputy Director-General of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Chinese Ministry of Education, Mr. Cui Xiliang, President of BLCU, and over 100 guests attended the opening ceremony.
With support of the ASEAN Embassies in Beijing and BLCU, ACC convened this 1st ASEAN Film Event. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership. ASEAN-China relations are deeply rooted in the peoples and will be better promoted through cultural and people-to-people exchanges. Film has been a useful instrument to connect Chinese people with ASEAN. The ASEAN Film Week is one among meaningful activities ACC has held to celebrate this Anniversary year of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership. It is also the 1st ACC organized event of the newly launched ASEAN-China Language and Culture Centre at BLCU.
ASEAN Film Week is running from 18 to 24 December 2013 at Room 438, No. 2 Teaching Building of BLCU. (Please see the attached schedule) The Film Week will present a variety of films from ASEAN Member States such as Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Viet Nam, to not only students and lecturers from the university but also any interested audiences from outside.
Audiences are encouraged to write their comments about watching the films and about ASEAN Film Week either on ACC's inscription book already prepared outside the movie room, or ACC's Microblog and Wechat.
