From 26 to 28 March 2014, the delegation of Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), headed by Ms. Lada Phumas, Director of IPRD, conducted a three-day best practice sharing trip to ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.
On 28 March 2014, Ms. Lada Phumas paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Chung Hae Moon, Secretary-General of AKC. She started by forwarding best regards from H.E. Mr. Ma Mingqiang, Secretary-General of ACC. She expressed heartfelt appreciation to AKC for warm hospitality to receive ACC delegation and to share valuable information and best practice of its work with ACC.
Ms. Lada Phumas stated that this fruitful learning trip by ACC was in response of ACC Secretary-General's proposal and a follow up to the consensus reached during the informal meeting among the Secretary- Generals of ACC, AKC and ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) in Kuching, Malaysia, in January 2014, and the cooperation between the Centres will contribute to ASEAN+1 partnership and ASEAN+3 process.
AKC Secretary-General Chung Hae Moon highly commended the fruitful achievements of ACC in promoting ASEAN-China functional cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism , information and public relations. He opined this trip by ACC would open up new dimensions in cooperation among AKC and ACC, and wished to see more personnel exchange and sharing of information and best practice among AKC and ACC in years to come. AKC Secretary-General also looked forward for ACC to host the 2nd formal meeting of the Secretary- Generals of the three Centres in China in 2014 as he earlier discussed with ACC Secretary-General.
During the trip, Ms. Lada Phumas briefed, with PPT presentation, on the role, mandate and work of ACC in past years to enhance better communication, cooperation and friendship between ASEAN and China.
The IPRD delegation had an in-depth exchange of views with the Information and Data Unit, Development Planning and General Affairs Unit, Trade and Investment Unit and Culture and Tourism Unit of AKC, particularly on their PR activities and publications.
The Information and Data Unit of AKC shared its information and experience in producing statistical yearbook, managing AKC Website, conducting PR activities such as youth and education programs, ASEAN awareness lectures and drawing pictures competition, making full use of media and other possible means like facebook, twitter, printing and electronic PR and learning materials, etc.
The interactive and intensive discussions between ACC and AKC proved fruitful and conductive. This was the first time the ACC delegation conducted a best practice sharing trip to AKC.
