On 12 June 2014, Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC)met with representatives from Guilin Institute of Tourism (GIT) led by Ms. Lin Na who briefed Secretary-General Ma on GIT’s experiences and accomplishments in terms of tourism vocational education, and expressed the willingness to work together with ACC. Both sides exchanged ideas on how to conduct tourism training courses in ASEAN Member States. Secretary-General Ma briefed the delegation on ACC's function and roles in facilitating ASEAN-China tourism cooperation. He said that the ASEAN National Tourism Organizations Meetings in May 2014 in Legazpi, the Philippines, ASEAN Member States expressed their willingness to cooperate with ACC and jointly conduct tourism capacity building programs, and ASEAN Member States were keen to see more visitors from China and confident that the capacity building programme for ASEAN professionals by ACC and GIT would help improve the quality of services of the tourism sector to adapt to the growing Chinese market. Ms. Lin expressed her gratitude to ACC for entrusting GIT to carry out the program, and agreed to work with ACC and deploy its academic resources. Both sides agreed to collaborate on various fields, in particular ASEAN tourism professional capacity building.
