PHNOM PENH, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported 204,000 tons of milled rice in the first seven months of 2014, down 1.6 percent from 207,370 tons over the same period of last year, according to official data released on Tuesday.
Sixty-four companies have brokered Cambodian rice for 54 countries and regions around the world, said the data compiled by the Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export.
Poland, France, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Belgium, Czech and China are the main buyers of Cambodian rice.
Kim Savuth, vice president of the Federation of Cambodian Rice Exporters, said a slight drop in rice exports was due to declines in purchase orders from some clients in European countries and tough competition with other countries' rice, especially Thailand and India.
Cambodia produced 9.4 million tons of paddy rice last year. With the amount, it has over three million tons of milled rice left over for exports this year.
Last year, it exported some 379,000 tons of milled rice, up 84 percent year-on-year.
