Representing the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Mr. Wang Daoyu, Deputy Director of the Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD), participated in the 22nd SEAMEO RIHED Governing Board Meeting (GBM) from 15 to 16 September 2014 in Danang, Vietnam, upon the invitation of SEAMEO RIHED Acting Director. Participants to the meetings were members of the SEAMEO RIHED Governing Board, including Director-Generals for Higher Education of the ASEAN countries, Acting Director of SEAMEO RIHED, Deputy Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, as well as another invited guest from Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
During the GBM, Mr. Wang made a presentation on the work of ACC in education, particularly its cooperation with SEAMEO RIHED and put forward some suggestions for long-term partnership between ACC and SEAMEO RIHED. He also extended an invitation to all ASEAN countries to nominate university executives to participate in the 2nd SEAMEO RIHED-ACC Study Visit Programme to China (Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou) to be organized from 2 to 8 November 2014.
The SEAMEO RIHED Governing Board expressed its gratitude for the work that ACC had done to promote educational cooperation and exchanges between ASEAN and China, and agreed on ACC's suggestions including the signing of an MOU between the two organizations. The Governing Board also decided to hold the next GBM and the back-to-back regional policy seminar on TVET in the first week of October 2015 in Brunei. The Governing Member from Brunei also asked ACC to recommend Chinese experts to the policy seminar.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Mr. Wang talked extensively with the Governing Board members on ACC and its projects and activities for ASEAN countries. He also observed the 10th SEAMEO RIHED Regional Policy Seminar: Linkage and Collaboration between University and Industry (UIL), held back-to-back with the GBM on 16 September 2014.
