ACC Participated in the 25th SEAMEO VOCTECH Governing Board Meeting

On 24 to 26 September 2014, Ms. Sun Xuejing, Education officer of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), participated in the 25th SEAMEO VOCTECH Governing Board Meeting held in Singapore, upon the invitation of the Director of SEAMEO VOCTECH. The Governing Board members, Director-Generals of authorities in charge of vocational and technical education, representatives from SEAMEO Secretariat, invited paper presenters and observers participated in the meeting.

Ms. Sun Xuejing, as an invited paper presenter, introduced the efforts and effects of ACC in promoting  ASEAN-China cooperation on voactional and technical education, especially the joint programmes with SEAMEO VOCTECH and SEAMEO SEAMOLEC. She extended an invitation to all participants to attend the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) World Congress 2014 to be held from 24 to 26 October 2014 in Beijing, during which ACC would hold the ASEAN-China Seminar on Cooperation in Vocational and Technical Education. In the Sharing Session of Current Development of TVET at the National and Regional Level, Ms. Sun Xuejing was invited to present the current development and reform of voactional and technical education in China.

The Director of VOCTECH and the GB members expressed their gratitude to ACC, highly praised the fruitful effects made by ACC in promoting ASEAN-China vocational and technical education cooperation. All the participants were also thankful to Ms. Sun Xuejing for introducing the latest figures and facts of the development of vocational and technical education in China, which were very informative and valuable. The next GB Meeting will be held in the 2nd week of September 2015 in Brunei, where ACC would be invited to attend.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Ms. Sun Xuejing visited Institute of Technological Education (ITE), Ministry of Education of Singapore, and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. She invited them to attend the WFCP World Congress 2014 to be held in Beijing in October 2014, to explore possibilities of cooperation in vocational and technical education. ITE agreed to send 4 representatives to attend the WFCP World Congress 2014 as well as the seminar organized by ACC.
