ACC Attended “Forum on Patterns & Trends of China Self-driving Tourism”

On 28 September 2014 , the “Forum on Patterns & Trends of China Self-driving Tourism” took place in Leshan, Sichuan Province. ACC was invited to attend the Forum and assigned Mr. Wu Dawei, Tourism officer of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD) to deliver a keynote speech, entitled “Opportunities & Challenges Faced by Self-driving Tourism and Related Sectors within China & ASEAN”.

Since 1990’s, the self-driving tour has become an important component of China’s tourism consumption with the booming of economy in China. Self-driving to ASEAN is the major destination of the cross-border driving tour from China. Mr. Wu briefed the forum on the current status of self-driving from China to ASEAN which has helped boost the ASEAN tourism industry, as well as the problems and difficulties derived from self-driving. The ASEAN-Chinese languages translation APP and driving navigation APP, developed by ACC, impressed the participants. Hosted by Sichuan Provincial Tourism Administration, Pacific Asia Travel Association and Leshan Principal Government, the Forum attracted at approximated 100 participants who were representatives from the government, academic institution and travel business and trade agencies, and discussed, among other topics on how the tourism industry reacts to the self-driving tour.
