During the 7th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) in Guiyang on 1-5 September 2014 at Guiyang International Eco-conference Centre, Ms. Lada Phumas, Director of Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), as a representative of ACC, met with high-level delegation from ASEAN and China in many occasions. They included the high-level representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the CPC Guizhou Provincial Commiittee, Guizhou Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Education Department of Guizhou Province and Guiyang Pre-school Education College, as well as the ministerial representatives from the Ministry of Education of Myanmar and Cambodia and participants from ASEAN countries. She took the opportunity to register the presence of ACC in the activities in the Week and briefed on roles and activities of ACC to enhance ASEAN-China relations in accordance to the mandates set by the governments of 10 ASEAN countries and China.
As entrusted by ACC Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang, Director Lada also took part in the “Information Sharing Session of ACC” on 1 September 2014 and introduced ACC to more than 100 participants both from ASEAN and China. Director Lada used PPT to brief on background and development of ACC, ACC’s organizational structure, missions and roles, and activities to promote ASEAN-China relations in the fields of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism. She also introduced ACC’s roles in public relations through its achievements on a series of ACC’s public relations activities, publications, website, weibo and wechat to raise awareness about ASEAN, ASEAN-China relations and ACC among the general public. She concluded by reaffirming ACC’s commitment to work as “a facilitator of good neighborliness and mutual trust, an initiator of functional & practical cooperation and activities, and an advocator of friendship between ASEAN and China”. She also invited the participants to enjoy the 6th “My ASEAN and China” Multimedia Art Exhibition Series “Colorful Symphony: Wonderful ASEAN and China”, which ACC organized as a meaningful part of the 7th CAEWC and in support of 2014 ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year.
The participants commended ACC for its concrete and successful activities which were important to ASEAN-China relations. In addition, they welcomed ASEAN representatives to work at ACC together with the Chinese officials and expressed their admiration for the ASEAN representatives’ hard work and dedication to strengthen ASEAN-China strategic partnership.
Presentation on ACC was broadcast on local Guiyang television on 1 September 2014. This illustrated concrete and substantive contribution of ACC in ASEAN-China relations.
