ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) participated in the China International Travel Mart (CITM) held in Shanghai from 13 to 16 November 2014. This was the third time that ACC attended CITM jointly with the ASEAN Secretariat since 2012.
With an involvement of 850 overseas hosted buyers and 300 overseas self-paid buyers, this year’s CITM became more international. 106 countries and regions participated, surpassing the one of 2012 in Shanghai, with a total of 2,427 booths, including 1,491 domestic booths, and 936 international booths. The domestic booths number remained roughly the same, while the international booths increased by 124% over 2013. During the trade days on 14 and 15 November 2014, 18 thousand trade visitors attended the show. On the public day of 16 November 2014, around 30,000 visitors visited CITM.
Back-dropped with iconic images of ASEAN Member States, the ACC & ASEAN Secretariat Joint Booth drew attention of trade and public visitors who showed great interest in ASEAN tourism. ACC representatives also met a number of ASEAN officials and discussed possible joint projects between ASEAN countries and ACC.
Launched in 1998, CITM has become one of the largest and most influential travel trade shows in Asia. CITM has also become an important annual platform for ACC to promote the awareness of the importance of ASEAN-China relations and its tourism potentials among the general public and the attendees of the event. ACC's participation in CIMT contributes to the efforts in raising the profile of ASEAN countries in China.
