On 16 December 2014, the Closing Ceremony of 2014 ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year was held at the 2nd Myanmar International Convention Centre in Nay Pyi Taw, capital city of Myanmar. H.E. Mr. Li Yuanchao, Vice President of China and H.E. Mr. Nyan Tun, Vice President of Myanmar attended the closing ceremony and delivered speeches. About 1,000 audiences from all walks of life of Myanmar were present at the event. On the closing ceremony, the artists from China and the ten ASEAN Member States presented a stage of splendid cultural performances displaying colorful arts and culture of China and ASEAN. 2014 was designed the ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year. Since its launching in April 2014, a series of cultural activities under the theme of “Our Culture, Our Future” had been conducted vigorously between China and ASEAN. As the only inter-governmental organization of China and ASEAN Member States, promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN and China is one of ACC's important responsibilities. In 2014, ACC highlighted the “ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year” by co-organizing series of cultural activities with the Ministries of Culture of China and ASEAN Member States, and other relevant agencies between China and ASEAN. ACC co-sponsored and facilitated Chinese cultural troupes to perform in ASEAN countries as well as organized and took part in other activities such as movie star fans meeting, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, forum, cultural tours with the aim of promoting ASEAN cultures among the Chinese public and the Chinese culture among the ASEAN communities. The projects were implemented not only to feature the uniqueness of each member’s rich culture but also to create mutualunderstanding, which made great contribution to the success of the significant year and promote the people to people exchanges and enhancing friendship between China and ASEAN.
