On 22-29 January 2015, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) representatives were invited to attend the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2015 (ATF) held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. During the 41st ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) Meeting and 18th ASEAN Tourism Ministers Meeting taking place within ATF. Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD) of ACC, briefed the Meetings on the contribution of ACC in the five main areas namely education, culture, tourism, trade and investment in promoting regional development in general. Specifically, Mr. Purnajaya elaborated on ACC's tireless efforts in helping ASEAN countries enlarge their share of the Chinese tourism market. Mr. Purnajaya said, teaming up closely with the public and private sectors in both ASEAN and China and engaging with various media organization had yielded significant results. ACC also carried out a series of projects and collaborations by working together effectively with the tourism industries of ASEAN and China. The attending delegates highly commended ACC for its work in supporting ASEAN's development in the field of tourism and expressed their willingness to consolidate tourism development in ASEAN and China through further joint efforts.
The Ministry of Hotels & Tourism of Myanmar hosted the 2015 ATF, which was attended by governments and private sectors from ASEAN, China, Japan and Korea, together with international organizations including ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC), United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Pacific-Asia Travel Association (PATA), World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The Ministers and other high level officials, international organizations as well as the private sectors and other participants of the 2015 ATF conducted extensive discussions and deliberations on a number of issues under the theme “ASEAN-Tourism Towards Peace, Prosperity and Partnership”.
