On 31 March 2015, the 3rd ACC-SEAMEO-GPDE Tripartite Meeting on China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) was held in Bangkok, Thailand. The Meeting was attended by Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director of Education Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD), Ms. Sun Xuejing, Education Officer of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Dr. Witaya, Director of SEAMEO, Dr. Gatot, Successor of Director of SEAMEO, Dr. Handoko, Deputy Director and Project Officer of SEAMEO, Mr. Liu Baoli, Executive Secretary-General of China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) Secretariat, as well as Ms. Luo Xi, CAECW Project Officer. Dr. Witaya chaired the meeting. In the meeting, the 3 parties introduced their respective work and outcomes, discussed the theme, activities, as well as the tripartite’s respective duties at the upcoming 8th CAECW to be held in Guizhou on 3-8 August 2015, and concluded a number events and activities to be held during the CAECW this year. The meeting also discussed cooperative areas beyond CAECW, such as students mobility, to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in vocational education.
ACC representatives also had an in-depth discussion with SEAMEO on promotion and implementation of cooperative programs, such as SEAMEO-ACC Education Research Network, ACC-SEAMEO Sports Education Innovation Awards, as well as students mobility between vocational colleges of the two sides, and reached a common understanding to ensure the successful implementation of the programmes.
This ACC-SEAMEO-CAECW Tripartite Meeting was the 3rd working meeting since the establishment of cooperation mechanism of participation in CAECW by the 3 parties in May 2013. The Tripartite Meeting has become an annual event, and been hosted by the three parties on rotational basis, with the aim of discussing and determining the theme, activities and duties of each party in CAECW of that year. As opportunities and challenges in the region develops the Tripartite is expected to expand its cooperative scope, so as to further promote exchanges and cooperation in education between ASEAN and China.
