ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) took part in the Symposium on University Internationalization, co-organized by the Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and National Institute on Education Sciences (NIES) at SWJTU Campus, Emei-Chengdu, Sichuan Province on 28 April 2015. Around 150 participants attended the 3-day Symposium, and among them were Chinese officials from the education departments, university representatives, scholars and experts from countries including the United States, Australia, Germany and Japan. ACC officials attending the Symposium were Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD), Mr. Tri Purnajaya, and Education Officer, Ms. Sun Xuejing.
During the Opening, Secretary of Party Committee of SWJTU, Leader of Leshan City, Vice President of NIES, and Deputy Director of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs were present and addressed the Symposium. Director Tri Purnajaya was invited to speak and share his insights about ASEAN, as well as ACC's functional cooperation and its contribution to ASEAN-China relationship in the area of education. He elaborated on the development and growing relations between ASEAN and China in the context of people-to-people exchanges. Director Tri Purnajaya also shared with the Symposium various activities and achievements of ACC in promoting education in the region, among them were the establishment of the three platforms and three networks to enhance education cooperation and partnership between ASEAN and China, vocational training and education, contribution of sports and education equipments to ASEAN countries and so forth.
