From 21 to 25 April 2015, Ms. Lada Phumas, Director of the Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), led a delegation of IPRD to visit Nanning and Qinzhou of Guanxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to promote cooperation with relevant counterparts in both cities.
On 22 April 2015, the delegation was welcomed by Mr. Chen Hai, Vice Secretary-General of China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) Secretariat at the Secretariat. At the meeting, Director Lada briefed on ACC’s endeavours to reach out to the general public and raise awareness about ACC, ASEAN and ASEAN-China relations, in particular on its booth set up for 2 consecutive years at the 10th and 11th CAEXPO with great response. Mr. Chen mentioned both sides had always been on very good relations of cooperation. He promised to give ACC continued assistance and service at the 12th CAEXPO scheduled to be held on 18-21 September 2015, including facilitating the establishment of ACC booth. Director Lada expressed ACC's appreciation for the CAEXPO Secretariat's consistent support and further stated that ACC booth at the annual CAEXPO has become one among important platforms for ACC's outreach activities.
After the meeting, the delegation paid a visit to the CHINA-ASEAN PANORAMA Magazine office and held discussion with Mr. Gao Hang, Editor-in-Chief of the Magazine. Mr. Gao thanked for ACC's support to the Magazine, and ACC's monthly contribution of articles since January 2014 had received praise and good effect. Director Lada spoke highly of the Magazine's efforts in spreading meaningful informations on ASEAN as well as ACC's acitivities. Both sides exchanged views on how to further improve ACC's Column in the Magazine and make the Magazine a better platform for promoting ASEAN-China relations. ACC would continue to further strengthen cooperation with the Magazine as it is a promising local channel to allow the general public learning more about ACC.
For the side event, the delegation visited Nanning Guangwen Information Technology Co. Ltd.,and experienced the work of ACC's WeChat as well as ACC's Information Service Centre. The delegation also toured the ASEAN Products Trade Centre to get a better understanding of ASEAN-China trade activities.
At the invitation of the Information Office of Qinzhou Government, the delegation visited Qinzhou on 23-24 April 2015. Vice Mayor Mr. Han Liu and Mr. Chen Dehai met with the delegation. Arranged by the Qinzhou Government, the delegation visited Qinzhou Free Trade Port Zone, China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and Pottery Museum, with a view to seeking a possibility of organizing a reporting trip for ASEAN media to Qinzhou.
