On 8 May 2015, Ms. Huang Ying, Acting Secretary-General and Director of General Affairs and Coordination Division (GACD) of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with Mr. Michael H. Fuchs, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Strategy and Multilateral Affairs in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the United States Department of State.
Ms. Huang Ying and Mr. Li Yuan, Director of Trade and Investment Division, Ms. Lada Phumas, Director of Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD), Ms. Wang Jin, Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD), briefed on ACC’s mandate and its efforts in promoting ASEAN-China cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism. Both sides exchanged views and shared experiences and good practices on boosting functional cooperation and mutual understanding between ASEAN and China, as well as ASEAN and the United States, such as promoting trade and investment, supporting the building of ASEAN Community, especially cooperation of the SMEs, capacity building, young generation exchange programmes, etc.. Both sides expressed the willingness to keep communicating on the above-mentioned areas.
Officials from the US Embassy in China also joined the discussion.
