ACC Attended the 11th ASEAN Senior Officials Responsible for Culture and Arts Meeting

The 11th ASEAN Senior Officials Responsible for Culture and the Arts Meeting was held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia from 12 to 14 May 2015. The delegates from ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, ROK, UNESCO, and ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) and ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) attended the Meeting. Mr. Tri Purnajaya and Ms. Wang Jin, Director and Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD), and Ms. Zhao Lin, Administrative Officer of ACC attended the Meeting.

Mr. Tri Purnajaya briefed the meeting on the general functions and responsibilities of ACC, with emphasis that one of its major objectives was to promote ASEAN and China exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture. Mr. Tri also introduced the main work in the area of culture that ACC had undertaken since its establishment, especially ACC’s involvement and contribution to 2014 ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year, which had contributed significantly to the promotion of better understanding and people-to-people contacts. The delegates praised ACC’s achievements and efforts in promoting ASEAN-China cultural exchanges. ACC representatives networked with ASEAN cultural officials and exchanged views to explore the possibility of joint cooperation in the future.
