ACC Participated in the 27th ASEAN Plus Three NTOs Meeting in Singapore

ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) participated in the 27th ASEAN Plus Three (10+3) National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) Meeting on 28-29 May 2015 in Singapore, attended by representatives from all ASEAN Member States, ASEAN-Korean Centre (AKC), ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA). ACC representatives were Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD), and Mr. Li Xiaofei of the General Affairs Division (GACD). The Meeting was facilitated by the ASEAN Secretariat and the Singaporean Ministry of Tourism, and chaired by Mr. Benito C. Bengzon, Jr. Under-Secretary of Tourism Department of the Philippines.

During the two-day deliberation, Director of ECTD briefed the Meeting on the general function and role of ACC as an inter-governmental organization that serves to further strengthen partnership and cooperation between China and ASEAN.  Director of ECTD updated the Meeting on ACC’s activities relating to tourism, culture, as well as other programmes in effort to raise the profile of ASEAN countries among Chinese stakeholders since the beginning of 2015. He also elaborated on ACC’s partnership and cooperation with a number of influential traditional and new media in China to highlight and showcase some of the latest tourism products of ASEAN countries.  

At the Meeting, ASEAN delegates praised ACC for its works in supporting ASEAN's development in the field of tourism and expressed their willingness to consolidate tourism development in ASEAN and China through further joint efforts.  ASEAN also acknowledged a significance of the 2015 CAEXPO Tourism Exhibition held in Guilin on 29-31 May 2015, co-organized by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and supported by ACC, which could serve as a new platform to promote new ASEAN tourism products among potential wholesalers and buyers from around the world.
