On 12 May 2015, Ms. Lada Phumas, Director of Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with a delegation from Xinhua Net led by Mr. Tang Yuewei, Director of Editorial Department of the Government Network. Director Lada briefed on IPRD's roles and mandate in promoting awareness of ACC, ASEAN and ASEAN-China relations. She opined that since the ACC's inception, IPRD has been tasked to maintain and update the official Website of ACC and Xinhua Net has become ACC's reliable partner in so doing, making the Website an important platform for ACC to reach out to the general public both in China and ASEAN. She expressed ACC's appreciation for the cooperation Xinhua Net has rendered to ACC.
The two Directors exchanged views on how to further raise ACC Website's visibility. They discussed on a number of issues such as how Xinhua Net could help improve the search engine for ACC Website; how to draw up an appropriate standard & procedure of selecting and uploading news and information pertaining to ACC's mandate in enhancing ASEAN-China cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, and tourism; and with close collaboration with IPRD officials, Xinhua Net was further requested to provide more technical support in creating more useful links for ACC Website. Director Tang suggested that ACC Website could be modified from time to time to attract more visitors.
Before the meeting, the delegation of Xinhua Net toured the photo exhibition on the development of ACC and ASEAN-China relations at the ASEAN Hall of ACC. Ms. Cao Ting, Deputy Director of IPRD, Ms. Lin Wenhua, IPRD official and Mr. Zhang Yang and Ms. Zheng Gengbo, Editors of Xinhua Net, also participated in the meeting.
