From 16 to 17 June 2015, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with the Ambassadors of Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand to China respectively, and exchanged views on further strengthening communication between ACC and ASEAN Embassies in Beijing, and jointly promoting ASEAN-China functional cooperation.
H.E. Mr. Thit Linn Ohn, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, congratulated Secretary-General Yang for her assumption of the new Secretary-General of ACC, praised ACC’s efforts in promoting ASEAN-China functional cooperation, reaffirmed the Embassy's continued close cooperation with ACC, and expressed his confidence that ACC would achieve greater results under her leadership.
H.E. Mr. Stanley Loh, Ambassador of Singapore to China, fully acknowledged ACC’s work from its establishment in promoting ASEAN-China cooperation, expected closer exchange and cooperation between the Singaporean Embassy and ACC, especially in the fields of people-to-people and media exchanges, so as to further enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of ASEAN and China.
H.E. Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to China, said that ASEAN-China relations were developing rapidly and facing new opportunities. The joint building of “One Belt One Road” and strengthening of Lancang-Mekong Sub-regional cooperation had charted the direction for future cooperation between ASEAN and China. He believed that ACC, led by Secretary-General Yang, would be able to make more achievements in deepening ASEAN-China functional cooperation.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping expressed her sincere gratitude to the Ambassadors of Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand respectively for their great support to the work of ACC. She highlighted the broad prospects of ASEAN-China relations, and reaffirmed that ACC would, in a pioneering spirit, continue to dedicate itself to further strengthening communication and cooperation with ASEAN Embassies in Beijing, and redoubling its efforts to promote practical cooperation between ASEAN and China.
