On 10-12 June 2015, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the Opening Ceremony of the 3rd China-South Asia(CSA)Expo, the 23rd China Kunming Import and Export Fair, the 7th Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Economic Corridors Forum and the GMS Cross-border E-commerce Cooperation Forum.
H.E. Mr. Li Yuanchao, Vice President of China, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, President of Maldives, H.E. Mr. Thongsing Thammavong, Prime Minister of Laos, H.E. Dr. Sirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Speaker of National Parliament of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam and H.E. Mr. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. V. K. Singh, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, and H.E. ML Panadda Diskul, Minister of Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand, attended the Opening Ceremony of the CSA Expo and delivered keynote speeches. They expressed views and gave suggestions on promoting cooperation in the areas of trade and investment among China, South Asia and Southeast Asia. In the Ministerial Forum of the 7th GMS Economic Corridors, H.E. Mr. Gao Hucheng, Minister of Commerce of China and his counterparts from GMS countries as well as Stephen P. Groff, the Vice President of ADB, exchanged views on transforming GMS Transport Corridors into Economic Corridors, revisiting the GMS Economic Corridors Strategies and Action Plans (SAPs) and gave their suggestions to the future development and cooperation. In GMS Cross-border E-commerce Cooperation Forum, officials from Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Yunnan governmental sectors and representatives from enterprises and academics of China and GMS countries exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities relating to the development of GMS Cross-border E-commerce and put forward some suggestions.
During her stay in Kunming, Secretary-General Yang also met with Mme. Zhou Hong, Director-General of Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province, Mr. Lu Tianyun, Director of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Kunming City, Mr. Ma Minxiang, Director of Yunnan Academy of Scientific and Technical Information, Mr. Chen Luyan and Mr. Peng Jinhui, Party Secretary and President of Yunnan Minzu University, and exchanged views with them on how to further promote functional cooperation in various areas between ASEAN and China. She also had interactive discussions with the teachers and students at Yunnan Minzu University.
