On 14 August 2015, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with H.E. Mr. Guo Weimin, Vice Minister of the State Council Information Office (SCIO).
Secretary-General Yang briefed on ACC's organizational structure, mandates and responsibility as well as ACC's development. She pointed out that information and public relations was an important part of ACC's work, and played an important role in introducing ASEAN-China relations' development. She thanked SCIO for its support to ACC, particularly in June and July 2015 when ACC and SCIO successfully co-organized the "Reporting Trip" themed on "China-ASEAN Jointly Build the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road" by ASEAN journalists who visited China. She said ACC was looking forward to strengthening exchanges with SCIO in order to further promote ASEAN-China media exchanges and play active roles to enhance ASEAN-China practical cooperation and friendship.
Vice Minister Guo Weimin briefly introduced SCIO's media cooperation with ASEAN. He spoke highly of ACC’s endeavours and achievements to promote cooperation between ASEAN and China. He expressed his willingness to further strengthen ties and cooperation with ACC, and explore more possibilities to organize ASEAN-China media exchange programmes to promote people-to-people connectivity.
The two sides also exchanged views on how to make information and public relations' work better serve media cooperation and needs between ASEAN and China.
