On 25 August 2015, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. A.K.P. Mochtan, at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping introduced ACC’s mandate and achievements. She also elaborated on China's initiatives such as building “the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road”, “2+7” cooperation framework and China-ASEAN Community of Common Destiny, as well as ACC’s unremitting efforts to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of ASEAN and China and its commitment to actively explore new ways for cooperation, creating a more dynamic exchange model, so as to further enhance people-to-people connectivity and lay a more solid foundation for a better understanding.
Deputy Secretary-General Mochtan congratulated Mme. Yang following her assumption of office as the new Secretary-General of ACC, and praised ACC’s achievements. He said the ASEAN Community would be fully realized by the end of this year, and noted that ASEAN and China would celebrate their 25th anniversary of dialogue relations in 2016. ASEAN Secretariat would seize the opportunities to strengthen communication and cooperation among the 10 ASEAN Member States as well as ACC to jointly launch a series of exchange activities to further promote the functional cooperation between China and ASEAN.
