ACC Organized One-day Visits in Celebration of ASEAN Day

On 11 August 2015, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) organized one-day visits in celebration of ASEAN Day (8 August). Secretary-General of ACC H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Ambassador of the Philippines to China H.E. Mme. Erlinda F. Basilio, Charge d’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy Mrs. Ureerat Ratanaprukse and other diplomats from the Embassies of Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines,  Singapore and Thailand joined the event.

The delegation visited the Exhibition Center of Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone and the Capital Museum. The Exhibition Center, officially established on 1 July 2011, was a window for the world to know China’s efforts in pushing forward its national innovative construction. ASEAN diplomats were deeply impressed by those new models of high-tech products shown in the Exhibition Center such as 3D printing, integrated circuit, energy saving and environmental protection, large data storage, information safety, monitoring devices of latest technology, and many others in biological and health areas. During the visit at Capital Museum, ASEAN diplomats were provided with a guided tour to the History and Culture Exhibition of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, Traditional Chinese Folk Custom Exhibition, watched a short movie entitled "Glorious Beijing" followed by a personal experience of Chinese traditional culture through listening to the music played by Chinese zither and painting Lord Rabbit clay sculptures.

Ambassador Basilio, on behalf of all ASEAN diplomats, expressed her appreciation to ACC for successfully organizing such a significant event, from which she and other ASEAN colleagues not only experienced a lot about the essence of Beijing’s history and culture, but also learned about China’s achievements and potentials of future development in the field of scientific and technological innovation. The ASEAN diplomats expressed appreciation for ACC’s contribution to promote cooperation and exchanges between ASEAN and China. They believed that ACC could make good use of the new opportunities brought by the establishment of ASEAN Community, and would provide continued support to ACC’s work in further strengthening ASEAN-China relations as well as with great expectations that ACC would promote ASEAN-China practical cooperation by playing more important roles in strengthening people-to-people understanding and friendship.
