On 12 September 2015, Sino-Foreign (Italy) Cuisine Display and Sales Exhibition was held at Yangzhou International Exhibition Centre. It was a highlight of the Silk Road Cuisine Display-Yangzhou Week and would last 3 days until 14 September 2015. Mr. Feng Jinhua, Chairman of Yangzhou People's Political Consultative Committee and President of Yangzhou Public Diplomacy Association briefed that the Exhibition attracted over 200 enterprises from 15 countries and regions including Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, ROK, Indonesia and Viet Nam as well as 14 provinces of China to participate.
H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) , attended the Opening Ceremony of the Cuisine Display and Sales Exhibition, and cut the ribbon with other important guests. Accompanied by Mr. Xie Zhengyi, Party Secretary to CPC Municipal Committee of Yangzhou, and Mr. Zhu Minyang, Mayor of Yangzhou, the guests toured the pavilions, enjoyed wonderful exchange performance by the chefs from China and foreign countries, and learnt to make Yangzhou steamed bun. On invitation, Secretary-General Yang also joined the meeting and banquet hosted by Mr. Xie Zhengyi, Party Secretary to CPC Municipal Committee of Yangzhou. During the Event, Secretary-General Yang had a wide exchange of views with the local leaders and other guests. She appraised the Event had distinctive features, fully showcased the charm of Yangzhou cuisine culture, and would play a positive role in Yangzhou's efforts to expand cultural exchanges with the countries along the silk road. She emphasized that ACC would continue to support and facilitate Yangzhou to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries and ACC was ready to keep closer communication with relevant agencies to make joint efforts on the construction of “One Belt, One Road”.
On the same day, Secretary-General Yang also attended the activity of Planting Silk Road Friendship Trees and accepted an exclusive interview by Yangzhou Daily.
