On 1 September 2015, the 2015 Northeast Asia Business Forum was held in Changchun, Jilin Province. The Forum was one of the series activities at the 10th China-Northeast Asia Expo. H.E. Mr. Chen Weigen, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the NPC of Jilin Province, H.E. Mr. Wang Jinzhen, Deputy Director of China Council of Promotion International Trade (CCPIT), H.E. Mr. Kim Jinyo, Former Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), H.E. Mr. Bocharov Andrey Ivanovitch, Governor of Volgograd State of Russia, attended the Opening Ceremony of the Forum and delivered keynote speeches. More than 200 participants from public and private sectors as well as research institutions participated in the Forum.
H.E. Mr. Chen Weigen, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the NPC of Jilin Province briefed on the industrial advantages of Jilin Province and expressed that the Forum, themed on “Promoting Cooperation of Mutual Benefits, Enjoying Regional Prosperity”, held during the 10th Northeast Asia Expo would attract more enterprises from the region and other parts of the world to the cooperation and exchanges of Northeast Asia, giving full play to the driving role of the Chambers of Commerce. Jilin Province would make full use of the platform to promote the innovation-driven development of the Northeast Old Industrial Bases and its industrial upgrading and optimizing, further strengthen the cooperation and exchanges with Northeast Asian countries to realize mutual benefits and advantage complementarity.
H.E. Mr. Wang Jinzhen,Vice Chairman of CCPIT, expressed that Economies of Northeast Asia have great complement in energy, resources, capital and technology. They hoped to upgrade the international competitiveness, promoting regional stability and prosperity through regional cooperation. An effective way to overcome the financial crisis and lack of economic growth motivation was to upgrade the standard of economic integration and trade facilitation. The Forum was meaningful for further strengthen and deepen the economic cooperation in the region.
H.E. Mr. Kim Jinpyo, Former Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, pointed out that the construction of China-Korea FTA was beneficial to peoples of the two countries. Bilateral trade had been developed rapidly while mutual investment cooperation be deepened further. Korean enterprises had actively joined the cooperation within 10+3 mechanism and gained great achievements in exploring ASEAN market together with Chinese partners. At present, the strategy of “One Belt One Road” had received positive attention and refection from countries along the Belt and the Road. He believed that the cooperation in connectivity would yield great benefits for both countries as well.
H.E. Mr. Bocharov Andrey Ivanovitch, Governor of Volgograd State of Russia, introduced the situation of the cooperation between the State and the Northeast Asian countries. He expressed that it was the right time to hold the Forum, which would play an important role for regional cooperation and economic development.
H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ACC, congratulated for the Opening of the Forum. She expressed that with the continuous development of sub-regional cooperation of Northeast Asia, the Trilateral Cooperation of China-Japan-ROK and China-Russia-Mongolia had been deepened. Sub-regional cooperation of Great Tumen Initiative and Economic Zone around the Japanese Sea as well as the Yellow Bohai Economic Zones were going smoothly. The development and prosperity of Northeast Asia had been tightly linked with the development and stability of the whole Asia and even the world. Peace and stability, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation were in the interests of the countries in this region. Cooperation was the only choice. Secretary-General Yang further emphasized that while committing the Northeast Asia cooperation, all parties shall further strengthen cooperation within the ASEAN plus Three (10+3), East Asia Summit (EAS) and other regional cooperation frameworks, supporting the building of ASEAN Community and contributed to East Asian integration.
Participants also discussed the topics of construction of the Free Trade Areas, economic cooperation of Northeast Asia, the "One Belt One Road" initiative with the cooperation and development of Northeast Asian countries as well as promoting the common prosperity in Northeast Asia.
Prior to the Opening Ceremony, H.E. Mr. Chen Weigen, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the NPC of Jilin Province and H.E. Mr. Wang Jinzhen, Deputy Director of China CCPIT, met with the honored guests of the Forum.
