On 15 September 2015, a Lao delegation comprised 25 officials from the Prime Minister Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, Science and Technology, and other relevant ministries of Laos, headed by an official of the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) visited ASEAN-China Centre (ACC).
The delegation was well received by Mr. Li Yuan, Director of Trade and Investment Division (TID) and representatives from General Affairs and Coordination Division (GACD), Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD) and Information and Public Relation Division (IPRD) of ACC.
During the visit, Director Li Yuan of TID, Director Tri Purnajaya of ECTD, Deputy Director Hong Mee Jien of GACD and Ms. Lin Wenhua, an official of IPDR, as well as other representatives of ACC actively introduced each division’s function, role and what it had achieved in promoting ASEAN-China relations.
Director Li Yuan said that Laos was one of the important ASEAN Member States. ACC was willing to continue to join hands with all the relevant governments and non-governmental organizations in Laos to strengthen information and communication exchanges in order to further promote pragmatic cooperation between China and Laos, and to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between China and ASEAN.
The delegation expressed its heartfelt gratitude to ACC for the warm welcome and thoughtful arrangements, stating that it learnt a lot about ACC from this visit, and was impressed by ACC’s positive role in promoting ASEAN-China pragmatic cooperation. The delegates also expressed their wishes to enhance communication and coordination with ACC and jointly make greater effort in promoting trade and investment between Laos and China.
