On 14-15 January 2016, Deputy Director of Trade and Investment Division of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Mr. Mouaviexay Palee attended the SME Working Group Meeting of the 34th East Asia Business Council (EABC), in response to the invitation of EABC Focal Point and EABC China Committee. Representatives from ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) and ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) were also invited to the meeting.
The meeting was co-chaired by EABC China and EABC Brunei and mainly discussed ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for SME Development 2016-2025, collaboration with three Centres, participation in the trilateral meeting among the ASEAN plus Centres, and proposed Statement of Cooperation. Members from EABC countries and representatives of the three Centres as well as about 50 participants attended the meeting.
Mr. Mouaviexay Palee introduced the missions of ACC and its main activities to promote the cooperation and development of SME. He expressed that ACC was willing to cooperate with the EABC and its members to promote SME cooperation between ASEAN and China. Regarding the proposed Statement of Cooperation, representatives from three Centres hoped the EABC Focal Point could send an official letter with the Statement to the three Centres for further consideration and consultation.
Before the meeting, EABC Japan Committee organized the SME On-site Visit and paid a visit to ACC. H.E. Mr. Masataka Fujita, Secretary General and officials from TID of AJC shared their experiences of promoting SME cooperation with the participants. During their stay in Tokyo, representatives from ACC paid a courtesy visit to the Chinese Commercial Office and exchanged views with Commercial Counsellor Mr. Jing Chunhai on SME cooperation within 10+3 countries.
