On 14 January 2016, the Promotion Meeting for the ASEAN Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (SSTEC) Commercial Centre was held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Beijing. The meeting was co-hosted by ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and the Administrative Committee of SSTEC. About 120 participants consisting of the Commercial Counsellors and officials from the Embassies of Brunei, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam in China, representatives from the Chambers of Commerce of ASEAN countries in China, as well as Chinese and ASEAN entrepreneurs and media attended the meeting. H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ACC and Mr. Xu Datong, Chairman of the Administrative Committee of SSTEC delivered keynote speeches.
Secretary-General Yang remarked that this year marked the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations. ASEAN-China cooperation faced new opportunities and a broad vision ahead. Both sides should strive to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders in the 18th ASEAN-China Summit, accelerate the upgrading of the economic cooperation, raise the level of trade facilitation, push ASEAN-China cooperation to a new height and therefore bring tangible benefits to the peoples of both sides. ACC was willing to cooperate with the Administrative Committee of SSTEC and other relevant sectors to build a high standard ASEAN Commercial Centre, with the purpose of mutual beneficial and win-win cooperation by facilitating more ASEAN commodities to enter Chinese market and more Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in ASEAN.
Chairman Xu said that SSTEC was a flagship cooperation project between the Governments of China and Singapore, aiming at building a resource saving, environmental friendly and social harmonious eco-city, and exploring a new path to achieve the sustainable developing city. The SSTEC would like to cooperate with ACC to provide an investment environment accessible and affordable with growth potential for the ASEAN SSTEC Commercial Centre.
The Commercial Bureau of SSTEC and Tianjin Innovative Investment Co., Ltd briefed the meeting on the business environment, beneficial policies granted and the detailed information of the ASEAN Commercial Centre respectively.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Yang Xiuping and Chairman Xu Datong signed the MoU for cooperation on behalf of ACC and the Administrative Committee of SSTEC. Tianjin Innovative Investment Co., Ltd also signed Cooperation Agreements with China Machinery Instrument Engineering Corporation, Tianjin Yishang Group Co., Ltd and Zhejiang Jiqunbao E-Commerce Co., Ltd respectively.
